At Roddy Engineering, we believe the future of business starts with investing in the next generation of tradespeople. That’s why our apprenticeship program is a big part of our company.
Each year, our business aims to employ up to four new apprentices, providing young people with the opportunity to build rewarding careers in the engineering and fabrication industry while learning from experienced professionals in a supportive, hands-on environment.
Our apprenticeships are designed for motivated individuals who are eager to learn, work hard, and become part of a strong team culture. Whether working in the workshop or out on site, apprentices gain real-world experience across a variety of high-quality industrial projects. From stainless steel fabrication and pipe welding to general engineering and site installation work, we ensure that our apprentices are exposed to a wide range of skills and experiences that help prepare them for long-term success in the trade.
Roddy Engineering’s apprenticeship program is built to give apprentices both the practical experience and formal training needed to become qualified tradespeople.
Over the course of the apprenticeship, apprentices spend the first three years completing their TAFE studies while simultaneously gaining hands-on experience in the workshop and on-site. They then complete an additional fourth year working full-time within the Roddy Engineering workshop environment and on site to further strengthen their practical skills and industry knowledge.
Roddy Engineering is also proud to support school-based apprenticeships, giving students the opportunity to gain early industry experience while still completing their schooling. In these cases, school-based apprentices will join our team one day a week during their schooling, allowing them to develop practical skills, learn workplace expectations, and gain valuable exposure to the engineering and fabrication industry before transitioning into a full-time apprenticeship pathway.
This early hands-on experience helps build confidence and provides students with a strong foundation for their future careers in the trade.
At the completion of the four-year program, apprentices receive their trade certification, giving them the qualifications and experience needed to build a successful career in the engineering and fabrication industry.
