Roddy Engineering was engaged by Windsor Group to supply and fabricate approximately 15 tonnes of carbon steel ducting for installation at the AKD Timber Mill in Tumut, NSW.
The scope involved the supply of all materials and the fabrication of a substantial ductwork package, comprising approximately 15,000 kg of AS 3678 Grade 250 carbon steel. The ducting was fabricated in accordance with client-supplied drawings, 3D models, bills of materials and DXF files, with each component required to meet the specified dimensions and fabrication requirements.
With a large number of individual components making up the completed ducting system, careful coordination was required throughout fabrication to ensure each section was produced accurately and could be incorporated into the overall assembly.
Roddy Engineering managed the works from material procurement through to fabrication, quality documentation and final delivery. Planning and coordination were particularly important due to the volume of steel involved and the project delivery requirements, with all completed ductwork required to be delivered to the AKD Timber Mill in Tumut within the specified project timeframe.
Quality assurance formed an important part of the fabrication package. Roddy Engineering compiled the relevant material certificates, fabrication and QA documentation, with a complete Manufacturing Data Record (MDR) prepared as part of the completed works. This provided traceability of the materials and supporting documentation associated with the fabrication package.
Following completion, the fabricated carbon steel ducting was prepared and transported to the AKD Timber Mill site in Tumut for the next stage of the project.
The project demonstrated Roddy Engineering’s capability to manage large-scale fabrication packages, from material supply and detailed fabrication through to quality assurance, documentation and delivery, while working closely with the client to meet the required specifications and project schedule.
